Stiletto Warning: Due to the fact that our wedding parking lot is a horse pasture and the ceremony/reception floor is made of cobblestones, we recommend that our female friends and family wear flat shoes or bring a pair along to change into. Safety (and comfort) first, kids.

History

Lauxmont Farms is a three-generation family-owned estate, operated by the Kohr family since 1973. The 100% organic farm, perched high atop the Susquehanna River in Wrightsville, PA, is home to champion horses, historic legacy and striking architecture.

The Cobblestone Courtyard was designed by Charles Downing Lay, a New York-based landscape architect, in the 1920s. Lay is famous for designing Battery Park, Bryant Park, and Madison Square Park in New York City, as well as the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC. The courtyard is made of Belgian granite, similar to the materials used in the historic cobblestone roads in New York City, Philadelphia, and Boston.

Built in 1931 using local Pennsylvania field stone, the dove covey and stone trellis were designed by Delano & Aldrich Architects, the New York architecture firm famous for designing the Japanese Embassy in Washington and the US Embassy in Paris.
